Just been looking at Martin Parr’s work on ‘Oxford‘ and ‘Think of Scotland‘. Both of these series resonate with me. I spent a lot of my working life in universities and most of the holidays I had with my kids in Scotland. It is very easy for me to place myself in these pictures. I particularly envy his composition, which remains exceptional and apparently effortless.

On the 25th October, the Martin Parr Foundation is opening a purpose built base in Bristol (at the Paintworks) with a studio, gallery, library and archive centre. The manifesto for the project states:
POST-WAR BRITISH DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY CONTINUES TO BE UNDERAPPRECIATED AND I WANTED TO MAKE A SMALL CONTRIBUTION TO RECTIFY THIS.
THE MARTIN PARR FOUNDATION WILL SUPPORT AND PRESERVE THE LEGACY OF PHOTOGRAPHERS WHO MADE, AND CONTINUE TO MAKE, IMPORTANT WORK FOCUSED ON THE BRITISH ISLES.
